Protect Your Investment!
Prevent Mold, Mildew, Odors & Rust from Damaging
Your Motorhome, Travel Trailer, Camper or RV by Using Dri-It®
While many people use their "home-on-wheels" everyday, for many more owners their Motor home, Travel Trailer, Camper or other RV is a weekend getaway trip, when they can, and the rest of the time it is closed up and stored away. This can often be for weeks or months at a time. You've made a sizable investment in your RV, don't let it be ruined by damage caused by excess moisture, primarily mold, mildew and their odors, when there is a very simple solution.
Pop-up campers that are not completely dry when stored can easily develop mold and mildew because the moisture is trapped inside when they are closed. Motorhomes and travel trailers are often exposed to the elements and rain and snow can easily be tracked inside on the carpets, and that moisture spreads throughout the cabin and can be absorbed by the furniture, drapes, and other cloth covered surfaces.
Placing pouches of Dri-It® throughout the motor home or trailer, or tucked into the pop-up camper before it is closed up, will help insure that the inside of your motor home, travel trailer, camper or any RV unit stays dry and free from mold, mildew, odors and rust.
All you need to do is simply place the suggested number of pouches in your motorhome, travel trailer, camper or RV so that air can flow around them. Then just sit back and let Dri-It® do it's job of absorbing excess moisture and helping prevent mold, mildew and moisture-caused odors from ruining your RV. Moisture will penetrate through the printed label side of the Dri-It pouch where it is turned into a gel and is trapped inside the pouch. No spillable tubs full of liquid and chemicals that can easily make a mess! When the pouch gets full and feels completely ‘gel-like’, simply dispose of it in your standard residential waste and replace with a fresh pouch.
Not only is Dri-It excellent at helping to keep interior moisture controlled in the off-season, helping to prevent mold and mildew formation, but it is also good while on the road. Dri-It can be kept in the water closet and shower areas to help keep moisture from the cabin. Under sinks and in cabinets will help control mildew and odors from items still stored while wet.
The chart below provides a starting point for the number of pouches needed for different uses.
The ideal amount for your situation will vary depending on many factors, including your normal relative humidity levels.
Storage volume is based on 50 cu. ft. (an area 5 ft. x 5 ft. x 2 ft.).

* Three months is used as a reference point. The first pouches placed in a sealed area will last the shortest as they must remove the initial moisture load of the items or area - how moist is everything at the start? The replacement pouches should last longer as long as new moisture entry is kept to a minimum. |
USAGE NOTES:
- You do not have to worry about over-drying with Dri-It, and you cannot put too many pouches in an area. Dri-It is designed to lower RH no lower than 30%. Extra pouches will simply share the moisture load and extend the time between changing pouches for new ones.
- When choosing a location to place the Dri-It® pouch, please consider the weight of a "full" pouch. A saturated pouch will weigh over ¾ of a pound! The adhesive on the pouch is designed to hold a full pouch for an extended period of time, however due to temperature fluctuations and other factors, primarily cleanliness of the mounting surface, the pouch may pull loose. This may happen before the pouch is completely saturated.
- If possible, we recommend checking on the pouch in 30 days and at 3 months and 6 months. In 30 days it will have absorbed it's largest percentage of initial moisture. If the pouch seems less than 50% full, the next checks should be at 3 – 6 months. However, if the pouch seems more than 50% full, you may want to check on it in another 30 days to be sure it has not become saturated.
- If you may not check on the pouch for six months or more, you should consider finding a flat surface to place the pouch on.
- The printed side of the Dri-It® pouch is the side where the moisture enters and is turned into a gel. Blocking this will reduce the effectiveness of the Dri-It material to absorb moisture.
- Occasionally there is a chemical reaction between the printing on the pouch and different surfaces. To avoid damaging paint, wallpaper or other surfaces, keep the printed side up. Do not place the printed side of the Dri-It? pouch in direct contact with metal.
